It's comfort food at its best!
When it comes to Italian food, the one thing that comes to mind is the comforting feels that one gets when eating it. That is exactly the feeling that we get, even when we were just entering Mamma Rosy, an authentic Italian restaurant that is located in Kemang area, South Jakarta.
Started by an Italian expat, Daniel Vigone, Mamma Rosy was initially created as he realised the lack of Italian food presence in Jakarta. Though there are many establishments that claim they serve Italian food, very few had the authenticity that Mamma Rosy presents. As Daniel misses his hometown of Liguria, a coastal region of northwestern Italy, he intended to bring a taste of his hometown and introduce Jakartans to what authentic Italian food taste like. Daniel's mother, Rosa Vignolo, whom the restaurant is named after, handcrafts all of the recipes that are on the menu. She's that quintessential Italian mother whose cooking just simply tastes like a warm hug.
The array of familiar yet original dishes that are displayed on the menu, is another thing that we loved about Mamma Rosy. From the pizzas and pasta dishes that we all know and love, to delicious meat dishes such as the Agnello al Brandy, which is a tender lamb dish, that was slowly roasted in the oven with generous infusion of Brandy and Italian herbs. We also loved that aside from the dry pasta such as Spaghetti, Penne, Linguine, and Fusilli; they also have handmade fresh pastas such as Ravioli, Gnocchi, and Tagliatelle.
